Introduction / History

The ethnic background of the Tungur is unknown, though some scholars believe they have roots among the Arab peoples of North Africa. Hundreds of years ago, they were merged with one of the Fur tribes, but before that happened, the last Tungur leader was driven out because he compelled his subjects to dig wells and level a mountain peak.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Tungurs are pastoralists who are trying to survive in a tough situation.

What Are Their Beliefs?

There are no believers among the Tungur to demonstrate the power of the Holy Spirit working in their lives. They live in a land where Sunni Islam remains unchallenged.

What Are Their Needs?

Tungurs need peace in their land and gospel workers to come to them with the gospel of peace.

Prayer Points

Pray that this will be the year God will send believers to the Tungur.Ask that for the Holy Spirit will woo them to the side of the true God.Pray that the Tungur will be discipled in the ways of Jesus Christ, the only Savior.
