Introduction / History

Konzo is the name of the tribe and their language. They are also known as Bakonjo. Most live in Uganda, but there are many thousands in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

They are short and stout, very fit from their way of life, which involves moving heavy objects.

What Are Their Lives Like?

It is common to see a 10-year-old Konzo child carrying 20 liters of water hundreds of meters up the mountains. The lives of these people center around subsistence farming in steep mountainous terrain and lush green valleys. They are peaceful, friendly, and welcoming, happy to share the little they have with anyone in need.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Witchcraft seems to play a role with the less educated, but they are highly Christianized. God can use them to take Christ to other parts of Africa.

What Are Their Needs?

The main things they need are quality education and freedom from corruption. With those two things, change would be a natural progression. Sadly, greed and corruption keep them from moving forward.

Prayer Items

Pray that soon Konzo disciples will make more disciples throughout Africa.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to bless Konzo churches with revival fire.
Pray for the Lord to bless them with an abundant harvest as a testimony of his goodness and power.
Pray for the Lord to draw those involved with witchcraft to the Throne of Grace.
